To be honest, when I saw the film made in 300 (2006) I really liked that film, and that film made a place in my heart. I have seen 300 movies many times. When I found out that the second part of 300 film has also come, then I was very happy that 300 Rise of an Empire 2014 will be seen in 300 film. When I saw the 2014 version, nothing special happened.
So 300: The Rise of an Empire was shown from the perspective of the Athenians to red Spartans killing black Persian immortals. The film depicts the atrocities in Athens and the lessons of Leonidas' sacrifice. These were the reasons why the Athenians chose to take up arms against Xerxes as well. Meanwhile Artemisia has eloped with Xerxes and is now commanding his army.
Not only was the film produced and directed by Zack Snyder but his visual effects are still intact. There is a scene where Themistocles rides a horse to fight the Persians. The camera stays on them for 2 minutes without a single cut. Of course there was a slow-motion sex scene and the Persians being tortured, but it was at least fascinating to watch, even if it didn't contribute to the plot in any way. The action sequences were good. It was shot brilliantly.
