The film begins with a research team bringing a dead man (Ravi Raja) back to life with the help of state-of-the-art technology in the mountains of Ladakh. With no memory of his past, he investigates his death and tries to find his true identity tba unhe finds out he is none other than Disco Raj, who has a scary past featuring Setu (Bobby Simha). Upon learning of his flashback, Disco starts hunting Raja Setu. The rest of the story is how the disco king fixes things.
Plus Points:
The biggest plus point of the film is Ravi Teja's retro look, his mannerisms, dialogue delivery and stylish body language. Because their performance is good in two different colors.
Payal Rajput looks beautiful in a retro getup and shares good chemistry with Ravi Teja.
Tanya Hope is very good as a scientist.
Sunil's role is a surprise package as his performance is quite impressive towards the end of the film. Venela Kishore gets a long role and keeps the proceedings alive most of the time with his comedy.
Karthik Gahattamaneni has done amazing camera work and a stellar job in filming the film in both past and present time zones.
The film starts on an impressive note and builds up a good curiosity factor to keep things novel.
Bobby Simha's negative role is good and highlight as he has solid screen presence and is an equal rival to Ravi Teja. In some scenes he is actually better than Ravi Teja.
Comedian Satya's role is fine. The last twist in the climax is excellent.
Minus Points:
The biggest minus point of the film is the slow plot of the film, when you want to watch a scientific film with action, then the story has to be fast-paced but it is not visible in Disco Raja. Director Anand's narration is very slow in most areas and it is during the interval that the real plot comes and this is where the film falters.
Flashbacks take too long because of the love story. And that's why the conflict point between the villain and the hero doesn't become impressive at all. Although the twist in the climax is excellent, but without that twist, things could have been managed.
There are many logic glitches in the film. Things go quickly, so the feeling between Ravi Teja and his son is missing. The film keeps running without any motive and creates a dull atmosphere in the proceedings and the second half goes down.
The fans of Nabha Natesh will be angry as heroines are hardly used in the film. Nabha, in particular, has only two or three scenes and a song.
